Weight Loss Programs That Won’t Work, Why Waste Your Time

— Posted in General Health Issues

Almost everyone wants to lose at least a little bit of weight. The simple truth is that, at some point, we all step onto the scale and think “aw crap” when we see the number that is displayed. Some of us will think “okay more veggies, less bacon.” On the other hand, there will be the ones who spend hundreds of dollars trying to find the right weight loss program. Unfortunately the most popular programs, are usually the most unhealthiest. So how do you know which programs are worth your time and effort? If you want a little help in that area, then keep reading.

One of the most popular programs on the market today is Weight Watchers. You probably already know this program works off of a points based system and has been around probably longer than you have. In this system points are assigned to different foods rather than calories and you are given a certain number of points per day. This allows you to be in control of the food you eat. Beyond that, the support system is one that people find very encouraging. This program allows more freedom than most others available.

Have you ever heard of the Perricone Prescription? Due to some recent criticism, this diet is not as popular as it once was. Keeping the skin healthy and young looking is the primary goal of this program. It is also commonly known as the “anti-wrinkle” diet instead of a weight loss program. Foods that contribute to water retention is a similar thought to the fact that some foods can cause you to gain more weight than others. If interested in this program, be sure to talk to your doctor before starting it.

Another weight loss program on the market that may have reached your mind is Volumetrics. This one is almost unheard of because it is still pretty hush hush. Amazon.com sells the book for around ten dollars or so.

You are not penalized on this program for sneaking a snack of your favorite food from time to time. Bacon is even on the list of allowed foods in this program! Many of the foods in this program are more filling than most other program. This simply means you get full faster, eat less and still have plenty of energy.

Weight loss programs are not all built on the same principals. Most weight loss programs are built on the premise of making a quick buck off of people desperate to try anything to lose the weight. Your doctor will definately be interested in hearing about any program you are using that is working for you.

You should take the advice of your doctor when seeking guidance for programs that will work best for you. It’s not a good idea to just run out and try any program you hear about. Get a doctor’s advice first!
