Dealing with Acne is Not Fun

When you are a teenager, dealing with acne is just part of life. Part of what helps us deal with acne as teenagers is knowing that everyone else in our age group is going through the same problems. As adults we are supposed to have grown out of the frequent breakouts of our puberty years. This is why so many of us are so embarrassed by the occasional breakout or zit. Waking up to find some spots or bumps sends us right back into our teenage angst. It can hurt quite a lot to have a breakout when you are an adult. No matter what number your age starts with, use these hints to help you deal with your next breakout.

Take steps to ensure that your all of your bedding is clean. Some people can go weeks and weeks without changing their linens or washing their blankets. If you suffer from acne problems, you cannot be one of these people. You will want to wash your linens, especially your pillowcases every few day or two. This will ensure that dust and other pore cloggers have a hard time getting into your face while you sleep. Your pajamas and other clothes should also always be clean. It seems silly, but if you are prone to breakouts, sometimes all it takes to start a fresh one is wearing the same shirt a couple of days in a row.

Try wearing less makeup or choosing a brand that makes cosmetics out of lighter materials. Many bases/foundations are now enhanced with sunscreen which means that you do not need to apply both products. Instead of choosing “regular” make up, buy make up that is made with minerals and vitamins that help your skin stay healthy. Do not run for the cheapest makeup available. Do not cake the makeup on. You want to wear very little to no makeup. It is still possible to look great even though you aren’t wearing dozens of layers of product! It is incredibly important for the health of your skin that you go to bed with a clean (and makeup free) face. Leaving on your makeup overnight is one of the best ways to make sure that you wake up to a face full of zits and pimples.

Look through your home for some natural remedies. There are a lot of people who insist that toothpaste is great for zits. An overnight spot treatment of toothpaste on a zit might cure it. Lock the pets out of the bedroom overnight so that they won’t try to taste the toothpaste or lick it off of your face and in the morning your zit will be a lot smaller than it was-it might even be gone!

Some people insist that egg whites can also heal acne. You can either do spot treatment by putting some egg whites directly onto your pimples or you can use the egg whites to make a facial mask.

Acne can be caused by a wide variety of things. You need to remind yourself that you are not alone with your acne issues–everyone deals with some form of acne or other. People of all ages get acne and some need more help with it than others. There are all sorts of cures and aids to help people fight against a breakout or acne problem. You might be able to fix your problem completely with a simple cleanser you buy at the store. You might need to ask a doctor for help. Keep at it and you’ll find a cure!
